Wi-Fi Studio

Wi-Fi Studio turns your phone into a small local web server. Open the address in any browser on the same Wi-Fi to browse your projects, download tracks and move backups. No cable, no cloud, no app to install on the computer.

In this guide (6 topics) ▸

Start Wi-Fi Studio#

  1. Connect the phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  2. Open Settings from the main screen and find Wi-Fi Studio Sync.
  3. Switch on Local HTTP REST Server. The status changes to RUNNING on Port … and the server address appears below, in the form http://<phone-ip>:<port>.

Keep LiveMarks open while you transfer files. The phone needs to stay awake and on the same network for the browser to reach it.

Connect from your computer#

There are two ways to connect:

Option 1: scan the QR code (fastest)

  1. Tap the QR icon next to the key in LiveMarks.
  2. Scan the code with a laptop or tablet camera, or another phone. The link opens Wi-Fi Studio with the key already filled in.

Option 2: type the address

  1. Type the server address shown in LiveMarks into the browser on your computer. Use the copy icon to copy it if you are sending it to yourself.
  2. Enter the 8-character Key shown in LiveMarks and click Connect.

What you can do in the browser#

FeatureDescription
Browse projectsAll projects and their tracks, with duration and file size. Use the search field to filter.
DownloadDownload any single track to the computer in its original quality.
Export (.zip)Download one project as a ZIP file with audio and markers.
Export All (.zip)Download a complete backup of all projects in one file.
Restore (.zip)Send a LiveMarks ZIP backup from the computer back to the phone.
Device statusThe page shows connection health and phone battery level.

Back up regularly. LiveMarks data is not part of the phone’s cloud backup. Export All (.zip) in Wi-Fi Studio is the quickest way to keep a safe copy of everything on your computer.

The access key#

Connections to your library are protected by the access key shown in LiveMarks. It works like a local password to ensure that only authorized devices on your network can connect:

Only use Wi-Fi Studio on a trusted private network, such as your home or studio Wi-Fi. Avoid public Wi-Fi in cafés or hotels. The server stops automatically if the phone changes network or loses Wi-Fi.

REST API and automation#

Behind the browser page is a local REST API that developers and power users can use to automate backups, search tracks, and download audio files to their computer.

Troubleshooting#

ProblemTry this
The page doesn’t loadCheck that phone and computer are on the same Wi-Fi (not a guest network, which often blocks devices from seeing each other), and that the server switch is on.
“Wi-Fi Server stopped” in the appThe phone changed network or lost Wi-Fi. Reconnect and switch the server on again. The address may change, so check it again.
Key rejectedCheck uppercase, lowercase and any special characters carefully, or scan the QR code to connect automatically.
Address changed since last timeThe router can give the phone a new IP address. Always use the address currently shown in LiveMarks, or scan the QR code again.
