Guide 01

Projects, Library & Flat Mode

Import audio from your device or ZIP backups, organize sessions with projects, or switch to Flat Mode for a single unified library across all songs.

In this guide (6 topics) ▸

Importing audio files#

Bringing audio into LiveMarks is fast and flexible. You can import from your device, restore a ZIP backup, or pull files wirelessly over the network.

  1. Tap Import on the quick action bar (or choose ⋮ → Import Data).
  2. Tap Import from Device to open the system file picker (Files on iOS, Documents on Android).
  3. Select one or more audio files. In Pro mode you can choose to import them into the current project or tap Import as new project.

Need to import without cables? See the guides for SMB Network Share and Wi-Fi Studio.

Projects & the file browser#

LiveMarks gives you powerful ways to organize your music — whether you want separate workspaces for each album and client, or a single unified track list.

When you open the app in Pro mode, the project browser shows all your active projects with track counts, total size and duration. LiveMarks includes a built-in default project named LiveMarks so you can start listening immediately.

At the bottom of the project browser, three quick actions keep navigation fast:

Tap any project card to open its track list. Long-press a project or tap its ⋮ menu to rename it, edit notes, export its data or delete it.

Free mode (Library) vs. Pro (Projects)#

LiveMarks structures your files differently depending on whether you are on the free tier or have unlocked Pro:

FeatureFree VersionPro Version
Starting screenDirect to Library (single list)Project Browser (or Library in Flat Mode)
Multiple projectsNo — one shared default libraryUnlimited custom projects & client folders
Flat Mode toggleAlways flat (single library)Switch seamlessly between Project view & Flat Mode
Project export & backupSingle file sharingFull project ZIP backup & restore with all markers
File & usage limitsFree tier limits (files & daily limits)Unlimited files, markers, A/B & recordings

In the Free version, there are no project folders to manage. LiveMarks launches straight into your Library. All imported audio and microphone recordings live together in this single list — ideal for students, rehearsal listening, and quick track testing.

Upgrading to Pro unlocks the complete Project Browser, allowing you to organize tracks into separate albums, client revisions, rehearsal dates or sound design archives. Furthermore, Pro users who want the convenience of browsing their entire collection at once can enable Flat Mode at any time.

Flat Mode (Unified Library)#

While separating audio into projects is essential for studio workflows, some users prefer seeing all songs across all projects in one single continuous list — like a traditional music player, DJ crate or sound effects browser.

In LiveMarks Pro, this is called Flat Mode (Unified Library).

How to enable Flat Mode

  1. Open Settings (from the ⋮ menu in the project browser or player).
  2. Under Display, toggle on Unified Library.

What happens in Flat Mode

In Flat Mode, the top bar displays Library and total storage usage across all files, making it easy to manage your complete collection in one view.

Managing projects & moving tracks#

Keeping your sessions clean and tidy is straightforward (Pro):

Multi-selection & batch actions#

Checkboxes beside each track in the library let you select multiple files simultaneously. The bottom action bar adapts automatically based on how many tracks you select:
